What inspires and influences your work?
“I am very much inspired by the ever-changing landscapes of NZ, as well as the intricate details that emerge when looking closely - things like the subtle colour variations in the lora and fauna and rock formations. A intend to create a sense of ambiguity in location that invites the viewer to overlay their own memories and interpretations.”
What do you create and tell us a little bit about your creative process...
“I create minimal abstract landscape paintings that focus on the interplay of light, colour and movement. I paint with watercolour acrylics and add detail with colour pencil and pan pastels. I love the way the watercolour moved on the canvas, and the subtle detail that pencil provides. Along side things, I experiment with watercolour floral artworks that translate to fabric. The idea of artwork extending beyond the canvas and being taken out into the world gives me a sense of artistic freedom and playfulness."
